The Suzuki engine

The Caterham Seven 160 and its successor, the Seven 170, use a small turbocharged three-cylinder Suzuki engine of just 660cc. Combined with skinny tyres and a very low kerb weight, it makes for what many consider the purest Seven of all.

Don’t let the small engine put you off. With so little weight to move, a Suzuki Seven is lively. And because the grip is modest, you can enjoy it at sensible speeds, sliding it around and making the most of every gear, rather than needing a track to have fun. It’s also very economical.
