The revvy 1.6L K-Series engine, with it’s high lift cams and lightweight flywheel, produces an energetic and engaging drive which is hard to replicate from any of Caterham’s current range. The anti-cavitation system ensures no lack of oil supply whatever the occasion, and the short ratio 5 speed gearbox provides the perfect accompaniment to the peaky little K-Series, keeping it in its ideal rev range and providing frantic acceleration. It then of course boasts the limited slip differential which offers excellent traction out of corners on circuits and is of course a must for doughnut practice!

This Supersport was originally ordered to take part in Caterham’s Academy series in 2006 before going on to be upgraded to Mega-Grad spec. This included the engine upgrade to 135bhp, lightweight flywheel and adjustable platform suspension.

This Supersport wrapped up its racing carear a long time ago and was converted back into a lovely road going example. The cage was replaced with a trackday roll over bar and is now acompanied by Caterham’s full windscreen and weather equipment. All of the aluminium panels were replaced and have been left in their original unpainted, brushed finish. The fibreglass nosecone and cyclewings have all been replaced with lavish carbon fibre, along with the headlamp bowls for good measure. The look was then finished off with a set of 13″ Superlight alloys.

All in all, this is a lively, characterful and stylish Seven, with performance which rewards and inspires confidence. What more could you want from a sub £20k Caterham?
