Caterham 310S SV

The 310S SV is (or was) perhaps Caterham’s best mid-range model, offering outstanding performance, with superb comfort and drivability.

The 310’s engine has been incredibly popular from day one, replacing the 140bhp Sigma Supersport engine. It provides enough power to out-perform almost all road cars, without being so powerful as to easily get you into trouble. But more important than its power, is how it delivers it. The variable cam timing from the Ti-VCT Sigma engine gives it a magnificent power band, pulling cleanly from as low down as 2000rpm all the way through to its upper limit at 7400rpm, becoming more and more exhilarating as you go. It really was Caterham’s “go to” option.

The S package provides the softer subtleties which makes this car so user friendly. These features, like the full heated windscreen and weather equipment, along with leather seats, nicely carpeted interior and a heater for those cold mornings, really make these cars very usable. The suspension too is softer on the S models, however in this case, this highly pampered 310 has been upgraded to Core One springs and dampers. These highly capable dampers are a significant improvement over the standard Bilstein, with an incredibly soft, yet excellently damped ride. They also come with adjustable bump and rebound settings for those who like to get a little more involved, though I can asure you, if they are left exactly as they are, they will not dissapoint! This new suspension takes up the lumps and bumps of the road in its stride, giving the user a comfortable and stable basis from which to go out and enjoy the roads.

This particular example, built on the larger SV chassis for extra space and range, was completely repainted in the past few years in Porsche Shark Blue with a Anthracite Grey decal kit and matching wheels. I has also been fitted with a full compliment of LED lights, and a lightened flywheel and clutch for sharper throttle response. This is certainly a very well loved and highly refined 310S SV.
