Caterham Superlight R400

The Superlight R400 has long been one of Caterham’s most formidable models. Equivalent now to a very highly rated 420R, the Superlight R400 offered blistering acceleration and cornering performance, with a power-to-weight ratio of circa 400bhp per tonne.

This extremely low mileage example has the added benefit of Caterham’s 220bhp upgrade. Whilst this 10bhp upgrade may not sound like much, in reality, it completely transforms the car and becomes arguably the best engine variation used in today’s Caterham range. The throttle response is made razor sharp, thanks to the addition of throttle bodies, but it is really the noise and character which make this upgrade so good.

This R400 is equally at home on the roads or the race track without being too biased in either direction. With a 0-60 time of just 3.2 seconds, this purist driving machine is a supercar killer and yet enables the occupant to enjoy the roads of the UK and abroad without the need to break the speed limit.
