The Superlight R300 originally came to the market in 2003 with the Rover K-Series engine. At the time it marked a step change in Caterham’s Superlight range bringing together the lessons learnt from the original Superlight and Superlight R models to create the perfect Caterham. The result was arguably the most popular Caterham ever produced to this day.

This “Gen 2” Superlight R300 using the 2.0L Ford Duratec engine retains the idealised performance figures of circa 300bhp per tonne, but with a level of refinement above the original R300. The additional torque produced by this engine give you a vast improvement in drivability, whilst remaining an incredibly exciting driving experience.

This SV chassis version offers a little more space than the standard Series 3, and also benefits from Caterham’s Superlight Switchgear with Keyless Ignition dashboard. This was an option which only existed for a few year, and saw a comprehensive appearance upgrade to Caterham’s dashboard layout.

With just over 13,000 miles on the clock, this is still a very young example, and one of the very last before Caterham dropped the R300 in favour of the new Supersport R which replaced it (which later went on to be renamed the 360R)
