Powered by Ford’s 1.6l Sigma engine, used across their range of Fiesta’s and Focus’ for years, this entry level Caterham is extremely dependable and provides ample performance for the majority of circumstances.

As well as the performance, this highly refined engine also provides fantastic drivability, with a smooth production of power throughout the rev range and a fantastic noise from cone air filter and short 4-into-1 exhaust system. Caterham also saw fit to have the engines mapped to pop and burble at low RPM, contributing enormously to the incredibly entertaining driving experience.

Like many Roadsport 125’s, this particular example started its life as part of the Caterham Academy. As such, when it was ordered, rather than coming with the usual carpets, heater and plush cloth or leather seats, it came with a roll cage, fire extinguisher, FIA harness and an introductory racing program designed only for beginners. This typically included a couple of days on track with instructors, a few sprint challenges and a couple of short distance circuit races at the end of the year.

Many who experience Caterham’s “introduction to motorsport Academy” continue to race for many years, adapting and modifying the cars each year as the racing gets more serious. Others move away from the racing scene, converting their cars back to a more convenient road specification without the full roll cage.

This Roadsport has been very nicely finished, complete with carbon fibre dashboard, leather seats, heater, the works. It’s apperance speaks for itself, and shows even at a glance how well it has been taken care of taken care of. These Roadsports are among the most usable and refined Caterham’s ever made and as such make for ideal first Caterhams, or indeed life long companions.
