Caterham Beaulieu 1.8L VX

The Beaulieu was a limited edition which Caterham produced in the early 2000’s. It was built as a modern day classic, using up the last of Caterhams carburettor powered Vauxhall 8v engines, and offer the buyers a classic car experience.

The popular model sold 51 units, which doesn’t sound like lots but for Caterham that was pretty good going, each given a plaque with their production number. This car is number 32, and was ordered from new in Caterham’s Reflex Blue paint, along with the upgraded 1.8l VX engine.
The 1.8l engine does offer a significant improvement to the sweet little Vauxhall powerplants. It gains an additional 20bhp, but perhaps more importantly around an extra 30lbft of torque. Again, these figures might sound small when compared to modern day road cars, but for such lightweight cars, it makes a huge difference.

What we have here is an exceptionally well maintained example of a Caterham. Absolute proof that Caterhams can go on and on if well taken care of. With just 45,000 miles on the clock in 20 years of flying around the UK’s roads, this is one of the cleanest and best driving Sevens you could find anywhere, and will no doubt make it’s new owner extremely happy.
