Caterham Headlight Upgrades
Caterham lighting has been a keen topic of conversation for a very long time. It is no secret that Caterham genuine light clusters originate from an early 1950’s caravan, and the standard headlamps are about as useful as a candle being shone through a microscope.
In recent years, Caterham have created LED alternatives which have proven to be a popular upgrade with a clear demand from Caterham owners.
Whilst Caterham’s headlight upgrade package provides a modern new look, with a central horizontal daytime running light and multiple LED projectors, they are rather expensive with the eye-watering price tag of £1,356 plus fitting!
This could easily be forgiven for an outstanding product, after all, you can’t put a price on safety.
Unfortunately though, the new lights still have a fundamental flaw – the transition to high beam.
The problem with Caterham headlights
Whilst the full beam does produce an excellent amount of light that travels a long way down the road ahead, activating it disables the low beam. The dipped beam is the part of the headlamp that lights the road directly in front, and to the peripheral, of you. So when switching to high beam you lose visibility of kerbs and hedges either side of you, which can be disconcerting when navigating country lanes at night.
The Turn 7 solution
We tried and tested numerous headlight options before settling on our Caterham headlight upgrades. These, like the Caterham official headlamp, have a central horizontal daytime running light, and provide a very comparable amount of light to the Caterham option on both low and high beams. The difference with our Caterham headlight upgrade, is the dipped beams stay on when the main beam are activated.
