Welcoming Rob Lancaster to the aftersales team

Jul 20, 2023 | News

This is Rob. Say hello to him.

Following the exceptional growth of T7 Automotive since launch, we’re delighted to welcome the newest member of our aftersales team – Rob Lancaster.

Rob joins us with extensive experience in vehicle repair and motorsports, boasting the likes of Geoff Steel Racing, JML and Formula Ford on his CV.

Rob first trained as a panel beater in the 1980s, working with local body repair centre Turners of Selby, before spending some time travelling overseas. In between bungee jumping and surfing, he managed to fit in garage work  in Helensville, New Zealand before returning to Yorkshire to join the team at Fletchers in Leeds.

Investing in a chassis jig enabled Rob to go self-employed, and with a preference for touring cars over supercars, Rob has since worked for Prodrive as well as teams across a number of championships including BTCC and Classic Touring Cars. Far from his childhood ambition of becoming a toolmaker, instead he became a familiar face trackside, supporting a number of teams over the years.

In his spare time, he also works on VW campervan conversions and has his own camper, which gives him the freedom to explore when he’s not working.

A lover of extreme sports, Rob confesses he was practically born with a screwdriver in his hand and started tinkering with cars from a young age; he has even built two Sevens of his own!

He’s clearly a natural-born problem solver, which makes him an asset to the team and we’re absolutely thrilled to have Rob on board.

When asked what he loves about Caterhams, Rob told us…

“Caterhams represent simple engineering at its finest. They may not be the fastest, but they’re an amazing car. Set up properly, they’re just the best!”

Welcome to the team, Rob!
