Summer Blat around The Yorkshire Dales

A Caterham enjoying sunshine on the open road

On Sunday 7th July, the day after the summer BBQ, we’re planning on having a blat around The Yorkshire Dales!

Without a doubt one of the most beautiful places in England, and it’s right on our doorstep.

Let’s meet at 07:30 at Leathley Farm Shop & Cafe (where we’ll finish for refreshments too) for an 08:00 prompt start. The Dales get busy on a Sunday, so it’s best to get going early before the roads are clogged.

Make sure your car is fuelled up before we meet, as there are few opportunities to refuel on the route. There are two petrol stations near the cafe, an Esso at ///torched.crackling.truffles and the Shell at Pool in Wharfedale (///known.telephone.duties).

This is the route plan: A map of a fabulous driving route

If you don’t have MyRouteApp, or don’t want to use it, you can make the route with these waypoints:

Leathley Farm Shop and Cafe, Summerbridge, Pateley Bridge, Grassington, Aysgarth, Hawes, Ribblehead, Settle, Leathley Farm Shop and Cafe.

If the A59 has reopened by then, we may end the blat by going over Blubberhouses, versus crawling through Ilkley on the A65. TBD.

Lastly, if you own a PMR446 radio, it’s worth bringing it along. Sometimes being in touch car-to-car is helpful.
