The Vauxhall 8v engines replaced the Ford X-flow as engine supplies dwindled. These Webber carburetor shod, 8 valve engines came to Caterham from Vauxhall/Holden as 1600cc engines producing around 100bhp. Caterham used these standard engines in their Classic range and also in a later special edition called the Beaulieu. They also produced an upgrade for these, increasing them to 1800cc’s and gaining around an additional 30bhp.

These Sevens made for wonderful “would be classic” cars. Thanks to the charm and character of the Webber carburetors, they make all the right noises and smells. This Classic truly is a thing of beauty, offering the looks, sounds and smells of days gone by.
Powered by a Vauxhal 8-valve 1.8l engine, with twin 40 webber carburettors and 4-into-1 polished exhaust sytem. Balanced and dyno'd to produce 153bhp and 170lbft of torque, this Classic can move as well as looking and sounding fabulous.

If you are looking for something a little retro thats a lot a fun, look no further.
